I Got First World Problems
Sure we all know there are terrible stories playing out every single day in the world, in far-off countries, in our own inner cities, even next door.
The oppressive government who seals their borders so the citizens can't escape and can continue their lives of direct and indirect servitude to keep lining the pockets of the authorities who hold the whip. Who imprison the people in terrible conditions for so much as thinking a cross thought about the situation. Who make friends and family disappear overnight, never to be seen or heard from again, and never with any answers.
The civil wars, the border clashes, the genocide. The unchecked disease running rampant through the community, the unclean drinking water, the famine.
But, you know, my iPhone's screen is cracked and the line at Starbucks is taking too long.
We only know what we know, but even if we know that in the grand comparative scheme of things our problems are pretty freakin trivial, it can be hard to keep that always in perspective when you're having a "bad day."
I have to say though that after I saw this video, it pops into my head whenever I think something is worth getting irritated or upset over in my little "first-world" life. It makes me laugh at myself and puts my completley insignificant little irritation back into context, where it should be.
Though it REALLY IS irritating when my laptop is out of juice and the cord is OVER THERE!
